Profile
Cheryl Missiuna, Ph.D., OTReg (Ont) is an Associate Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Science and the Director of CanChild, Centre for Childhood Disability Research. Cheryl's teaching interests centre on occupational performance issues in children and youth with special needs. Cheryl holds a Mid-Career Rehabilitation Scientist award from the Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation and the Ministry of Health and Longterm Care. This award allows her to research models of health service delivery that encourage health promotion, early identification, the creation of supportive environments and prevention of secondary consequences for children with developmental coordination disorder. An important emphasis throughout this work is the development of targeted educational materials that facilitate knowledge transfer and uptake by different audiences including children and youth, families, teachers, health professionals and decision-makers.
